Greek Sails

Updated: Nov 13, 2021

We spoke on the Richard Kouvaris on the phone yesterday. He was very helpful indeed. He had gone through the spec in detail and suggested some changes. In terms of the deal: GS would buy the boat through an agent to get a c.10% discount; Richard thought he could also get about 15% discount on the electronics etc. This all may be VAT free, if the boat is long enough!

1. We would buy the boat from GS in year 1 and Richard would fit out and handover to us in Antibes. We would then sail it to Poros (via Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Italy, Corfu and Corinth to arrive October (ish) 2021.

2. In year 2, Greek sails would buy the boat back from us, in installments over a number of years. They would use charter income in July and August each year to pay us back.

3. At then end of an agreed term, we would either keep the yacht, else GS would pay is the agreed residual amount. (I think at that point the VAT would be payable on the residual amount?)

Even though Alix and I are keen on the Oceanis 40.1, Richard said he would also get a quote for a Jeanneau SO 410. He says the interior is the same, but mirrored, but we think we prefer the Oceanis...
