[In 2019, Richard and Alix were looking to buy a new yacht and to name her 'Missy Bear'. They wanted a new Beneteau Oceanis 40.1. Here is the story of how they found here, and where they sailed together on their adventures...]
We've now got best and final offers from Ancasta and Sunbird. We're just waiting for Richard at Greek Sails to provide a quote for buying and keeping the boat in Poros.
If we go with Sunbird, we would take the boat ex-VAT, British registered and keep it at the Gocek base in Türkiye. This would allow us to take advantage of sailing into EU waters for 18-month periods.
If we go with Greek Sails, they will probably get a better corporate discount and, by putting it into charter with them, we would also avoid VAT. The issue is reduction of manufacturer's warranty to 1 year. The yacht might also have to be Greek registered, and we don't know if this will cause any issues in future.
